A mother is the one who gives her children a love as boundless and pure as the sky – a love so vast it cannot be fully seen, understood, measured, or matched. She gives it freely, through her own hands.
She battles between life and death to give us birth. To nurture and raise her children, she pours out all her strength and beauty. She sets aside countless personal desires and dedicates herself completely to the all-round growth and upliftment of her children. In doing so, she often forgets her own self-care. After giving birth, she loses interest in tending to her own physical and mental changes, her meals, her sleep, her comfort, or her appearance.
A mother’s concern for her child is so immense that even in the middle of a crowd, the moment her baby is hungry, she becomes a mother first and a woman second. Regardless of any uncomfortable surroundings, she feeds her child without hesitation.
It is the greatness of a mother that she celebrates the most painful day of her life as our birthday. After giving us life, she holds the bond with her child above all other relationships, caring endlessly. She sheds tears of joy and blesses us when she sees her children succeed.
To you, Amma, who gave us an identity and existence on this earth, and who is the reason behind our good health, fortune, name, and fame today – we bow to you.
