Bengaluru, August 29 (Karnataka Information): Applications have been invited from eligible individuals or organisations for the Mahatma Gandhi Seva Award–Karnataka instituted by the State Government for the year 2026.
Individuals who have completed at least 60 years of age and have made achievements by adopting Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals in public life, as well as service organizations that have completed 25 years, are eligible to apply.
Individuals or organizations voluntarily engaged in areas inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s principles, including eradication of untouchability, non-violence, women’s empowerment, rural sanitation, prohibition of alcohol, promotion and use of khadi and Swadeshi products and the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, may apply for the award.
Organizations or individuals may also recommend eligible persons for the award.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh.
