ASC Centre & College celebrated 265th Army Service Corps Day

The Army Service Corps (ASC), one of the oldest and the largest logistic arm of the Indian Army, celebrated its 265th Corps Day today with enthusiasm and pride at ASC Centre & College, Bengaluru.

 Established in 1760, Army Service Corps has played a critical role in every major military campaign undertaken by Indian forces. Over the centuries, it has evolved into a modern, agile, and technology-driven logistics arm that sustains the operational effectiveness of the Army across terrains—from high altitudes and deserts to dense jungles and active conflict zones. Pre-independence, the personnel of the arm have been awarded 4 Distinguished Service Orders and 25 Military Cross.

After Independence, ASC personnel have been awarded 1Padma Bhushan, 1 Padma Shri, 1 Maha Vir Chakra, 14 Vir Chakra, 5 Kirti Chakra, 24 Shaurya Chakra, 148 Sena Medal, for their selfless service and bravery in operations through the years.

 The celebration at the ASC Centre and College, Bengaluru, which is the Alma Mater of the Corps, was marked by a solemn wreath-laying at the War Memorial where Lt Gen JK Gera, Commandant, ASC Centre & College led all ranks to pay tribute to all ranks who laid down their lives in the line of duty reaffirming the commitment of the Corps towards excellence, service, and innovation in military logistics.

A dedicated Wreath Laying Ceremony was held at the Animal Transport Memorial as well, to pay homage to the Animals and their Handlers of Animal Transport units, who have laid down their lives in wartime, sustaining the farthest and highest posts of the Army, as silent warriors.

Commandant, ASC Centre & College extended greetings to all ranks, veterans, and families, lauding their professionalism, adaptability, and dedication to ensuring seamless supply, transport, and sustenance functions across the Army.

 As the Indian Army moves forward in its journey of modernisation, ASC continues to embrace emerging technologies duly ensuring efficient and resilient support to field formations and humanitarian missions alike.  The 265th Corps Day reaffirms the enduring motto of the Army Service Corps — “Seva Asmakam Dharma” — symbolising unwavering commitment to the nation and the soldier.
