Concept Overview: A Tribute in Edible Art
The theme of this elaborate cake intertwines the core values and monumental achievements of Mr. Ratan Tata. The centerpiece is a sculpted sugar bust, a lifelike representation of the visionary leader. Surrounding the bust is a symbolic sugar globe, representing his global influence, adorned with sugar-crafted airplanes in flight to commemorate his momentous reclamation of the Tata Airlines legacy. At the base, a fondant shelf showcases books, each bearing the name of a Tata Group company, alongside iconic products and services under the
Tata flagship. Every detail of this cake is a reflection of Mr. Tata’s multifaceted contributions to industry, philanthropy, and innovation. Facial features, expressions, and even his signature look were meticulously shaped by hand, ensuring an accurate depiction of his persona. A globe crafted from gum paste and covered with
hand-painted fondant was placed behind the bust. Sugar planes, representing the revival of Tata Airlines, were suspended in motion and A fondant bookshelf was created at the base of the cake, with fondant books representing the many companies under the Tata Group, such as Tata Motors, Tata Steel, TCS, Titan, and more. The bookshelf and miniature products added another layer of intricacy, with each item requiring individual attention to detail. Despite these challenges, the team’s dedication and mastery of sugarcraft resulted in a masterpiece that not only celebrates Mr. Ratan Tata’s legacy but also pushes the boundaries of edible art.
Hon’ing a Statesman THE S.M. KRISHNA TRIBUTE CAKE
In a heartfelt commemoration of the extraordinary life and legacy of S.M. Krishna, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka, ex-Governor of Maharashtra, and former Foreign Minister of India, the Institute of Baking & Cake Art (IBCA), Bangalore presents a magnificent 280-kilo sugar-crafted masterpiece. This edible creation is a tribute to a leader whose vision and contributions shaped the political landscape of India. Crafted by a dedicated team of
Santanu, Mahesh, and Rahul over 10 days, this cake is a heartfelt gesture of remembrance, reflecting his values, leadership, and unwavering commitment to service. This tribute cake captures S.M. Krishna’s charismatic presence and iconic demeanor through a life-size sugar sculpture of his bust, depicting him seated at his desk. His signature folded hands, a radiant face exuding confidence, and his elegant posture embody his dedication to the nation and people. Surrounding him are symbolic details—a neatly arranged desk with work files, his accessories, and the Indian flag, reflecting his diligence and patriotism. The composition celebrates his contributions as a leader who inspired generations.
The desk was designed using stacked cake layers, carved and covered with fondant to replicate the wood grain texture of a polished office desk. Edible paper and sugar files were neatly arranged on the desk, showcasing his meticulous approach to work. Each file cover was embossed with edible text, symbolising key moments and initiatives during his political career. A miniature Indian flag, handcrafted from gum paste and fondant, stood
proudly on the desk, reflecting his patriotism and service to the nation.
Fine details, such as wrinkles on his face and the folds of his clothing, were meticulously crafted using edible sculpting tools and perfected with hand-finishing techniques. The S.M. Krishna Tribute Cake is more than an edible creation—it is a heartfelt memorial to a visionary leader who dedicated his life to public service. With every fold of fondant and every brushstroke of color, the IBCA team poured their passion and respect into this
masterpiece, ensuring it stands as a sweet and enduring testament to his legacy.

A Sweet Symphony for 2025 – The New Year Celebration Cake
As we bid farewell to 2024 and embrace the vibrant promises of 2025, Institute of Baking & Cake Art (IBCA), Bangalore. proudly unveils a breathtaking 375-kilo sugar- crafted masterpiece that embodies the essence of New Year festivities. Crafted with unparalleled artistry and dedication by Santanu, Mahesh, Deepak, Asha, and Rahul,
this showstopper took 15 days of meticulous planning and execution to create. A dazzling amalgamation of fondant artistry, gum paste sculptures, and sugarcraft brilliance, this cake is a joyous ode to fun, music, and celebration.
The base of the cake, composed of stacked and carved sponge layers, was expertly covered in fondant to achieve a seamless and smooth finish. The clock face, a sugar showpiece, was created using isomalt for a glass-like effect. Roman numerals and clock hands were delicately crafted from gum paste and painted with edible metallic
colors for a striking contrast.
Gum paste champagne bottles, sculpted with remarkable precision, were airbrushed to mimic the sheen of glass. Labels were hand-painted with edible gold and silver, giving them a luxurious finish. Sugar balloons in vibrant hues, shaped using blown sugar techniques, floated gracefully across the display, adding a sense of movement
and cheer. Fondant streamers and celebration fans were cut and hand-folded, creating an explosion of festivity around the cake’s rear.

The New Year Celebration Cake by IBCA is more than a confection—it’s an edible art installation that captures the spirit of celebration and renewal.
