“Awareness Against Ragging for Students in BES College” Anti-Ragging Awareness program was organized by “Anti-Ragging

Awareness Cell” in collaboration with IQAC and IIIC at BES College, Jayanagar, Bangalore. Senior journalist, writer and social thinker *K. Shanthakumari*, presided over by Dr. Bairamangala Ramegowda presided.

Yoga and Gandhari Vidya Teacher *Ambika C*, Secretary of Bharat Vidyasirshana *Po. N. S. Vijay*, Principal of BES College *Dr. S. Ashok Kumar*, Anti Ragging Cell Coordinator *Dr. Nandini N*, IIC Coordinator *Prof. Akshata P. Pai was present. Head of Kannada Department Dr. Nandini N welcomed the dignitaries.

Principal Dr. S. Ashok Kumar told the students about the main purpose of the program, what is ragging, its forms and the ill effects on students. Senior Journalist *K. Shanthakumari* spoke and explained how the future of students will be ruined by ragging and the disciplinary measures taken by the college and the government to prevent ragging. *Prof. S.S. Vijay* cited his childhood incident and told about the impact of mental ragging on the physical and mental health of students.


*Ambika C* explained the importance of yoga in developing a sense of self-confidence and courage that yoga practice is helpful in building a positive body and mind among the students. Presided over by *Dr. Byramangala Ramegowda* told the students to overcome the obstacles in life and told that there is no difference between male and female in the matter of ragging.

An art competition was organized for the awareness movement among the students and around 40 students participated in this competition and the students got prizes. The presentation of the program was done by the students Tejaswini who saluted everyone. At the end the students adopted the message *”say no to ragging”*. The program concluded with the slogan *Let’s say ragging NO, let’s call friendship YES*.
