Professor SL Goel, a doyen of public administration and Former member of university grants commission, UGC Emeritus Professor of Punjab University , left for heavenly abode on fifth of August, 2026 at the age 90years

Professor Goel, a scholar of eminence, a keen researcher and a motivator cum trainer – was known to one and all, both within the country and abroad. He was admired for his academic excellence, besides being an author of three dozen research books on various facets of public administration
He has provided research guidance to more than two dozen senior civil servants and faculty members. His association with top policy-making bodies at the university grants commission, Punjab University and various other research bodies made a great impact to the society at large. He has been on the board of directors for several public sector Enterprises, including State Bank of India. He is fondly remembered by everyone as a friend, philosopher and guide. He is presently survived by his wife. Professor Aruna Goel, formerly director of University School of open learning, Punjab University and his two sons: elder one being, Dr Rajneesh Goel, IAS, former chief Secretary Government Of Karnataka and his wife, Dr Shalini Rajneesh IAS, presently chief Secretary Government Of Karnataka and his younger son Indresh Goel, practising advocate in Honble High Court of Karnataka, Punjab and Haryana and his wife, Ranjana who is a renowned social activist
He is a proud grandfather of Charvi and Muskan Goel
