Bangalore: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Bangalore Branch Office and Lab organized an Exposure visit for the standards club student members of SC-7832-Goverment Pre University college Hebbal (30 students) and  SC-619:G H S Mallasandra (25 students)to various sections of Bangalore Branch Laboratory and recently inaugurated Science Park on 12th July 2024. 

Standards Clubs have been conceptualized with the aim of creating awareness about the significance of standards among young minds. It is essential that the Mentors understand the concepts behind standards and their role in the quality ecosystem.

BIS has introduced exposure visits for the member students of standards clubs, aimed at raising their awareness of quality standards. These visits entail bringing students to specially designed learning spaces within BIS offices, laboratories, industrial plants and local manufacturers, offering a hands-on understanding of manufacturing and testing processes. The visit aims to familiarize students with diverse activities undertaken by BIS and the use of BIS Care Mobile App.

The students visited various sections like- Microbiological lab, Chemical Trsting lab, Toy testing lab, Mechanical Lab, Electrical Lab, Plywood Testing Lab, RAL Lab, Sample cell. The overview about BIS was presented by Shri RaviChnder V, Former Director & Head, Bangalore Branch Lab. Shri Mahendra Singh Jakar, Scientist-D/Joint Director, BIS, Bangalore Lab conducted a quiz competition for students based on their visit and understandings about BIS. The session was concluded by lunch and feedback session.
