The only Indian airport to make it to the list is Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport

Airports Council International, a trade association representing nearly 2,000 airports, released the rankings of the world’s busiest airports for passengers in 2022 on Wednesday. In a press statement, it shared that global passenger traffic reached close to 7 billion in 2022 with the resumption of international travel. While this number indicates a 73.8 per cent recovery as per the 2019 results, the aviation industry continues to be immensely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

ACI further expects global passenger traffic to reach 92 per cent of 2019 levels in 2023. It says that full recovery to 2019 levels isn’t expected until 2024. As per the 2022 rankings, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) remained the busiest airport overall, with 93.7 million passengers. This was followed by Dallas/Fort Worth TX and Denver airports in the second and third spots respectively.
