CMRIT Organized Blood Donation Camp in association with BMST

Saturday: While many of us have the privilege of having a well smooth functioning body, there are a few who don’t
have the same. Today, one in seven people entering a hospital requires blood which is the most essential thing for human life. Yes, the need for blood is constant and nothing can replace the satisfaction and delight of making a
lifesaving decision of donating blood.
Rotaract club, NSS and Youth Red Cross unit of CMRIT took the opportunity to give a gift of life by organizing a blood donation camp, in association with Rotary Bangalore-TTK medical service trust (BMST) in its campus. The camp, with its humanistic appeal, urged people to come out from the presupposition that blood donation is harmful and be a part of an initiative to save lives. The Blood Donation Camp held was a huge success and saw active participation from faculty and students. On the whole, 243 units of blood were collected in a
day. The drive saw close to 281 students, faculty, and staff members coming together to donate blood for a noble cause. Quoting the words of a donor, “There is nothing nobler than organizing voluntary blood donation camps. When you donate blood for an unknown person the artificial barriers of caste, creed, religion, and languages are innately demolished and the social responsibility will be enhanced”. Volunteers guided the people to wear masks and maintain social distancing and gave moral support to the people donating blood. The samples were carefully sealed and transported to the Blood bank. The camp succeeded in creating awareness among students about their social
responsibilities and the need to come forward.
“The considerable youth participation in today’s blood donation camp is an inspiring sign of voluntarism and awareness. When the need for safe and secure blood is steadily on the rise, the donors are indeed serving the society in a way that deserves acknowledgment and appreciation,” said Dr. Sanjay Jain, Principal
